I’ve heard about Baobab once while I was living in San Francisco. I had no idea it was an amazing Superfood. What is Baobab? The Baobab tree is found in Africa, and is called, “The Water Tree”. This tree can hold up to 60,000 gallons of rainwater in it’s trunk. Yes- 60,000. They are also able to live up to thousands of years, even in the harshest conditions. This tree serves several purposes and can be used in a variety of ways. Its bark, roots, leaves, fruits, and flowers, are all used for a source of food, and respiratory, skin and digestive remedies.
The Baobab fruit looks like a large brown seed. The superfood powder is made of ground seeds from inside the fruit that offer a flavor of caramel pear and grapefruit essence. The Baobab fruit is one of the only fruits to completely dry out while still on the tree. Just using 2 tablespoons of Baobab powder can give you a wealth of nutritional benefits.
The Benefits of Baobab Powder

How to Use Baobab Powder
It’s fairly easy to incorporate Baobab powder into your diet. For those who can’t start their morning without a super smoothie, I highly suggest adding 1 or 2 tablespoons of Baobab powder. For a quick and nutritious snack, add 1/2 to a full tablespoon of Baobab powder into yogurt. Overnight oats, chia seeds, honey, vanilla and a tablespoon of Baobab powder make a great breakfast porridge. Thinking of making a cold soup? Add some Baobab. The possibilities are endless with this awesome super fruit.
